The Best Psychologists in Edmonton Making Treatments Less Daunting
Taking care of your mental health is important; as someone who suffers from anxiety, I know that fact too well. But I also know that it’s scary to ask for help, especially if it’s your first time. How do you find the right psychologist for you?
I faced this problem years ago, and I definitely had my fair share of terrible experiences with psychologists. Fortunately, my family and friends gave me amazing recommendations, and eventually, I found psychologists I trust.
Struggling to find one? Don’t worry, I got you covered. Here are ones worth checking out in Edmonton.
How much does a psychologist cost in Edmonton?
The cost of a session with a psychologist in Edmonton varies a lot, depending on what type of session you’re getting.
If you’re booking a therapy session, then you can expect the cost to range from C$200 to C$300. Meanwhile, if you want a psychological assessment, the price range will fall somewhere between C$880 and C$4,000.
The cost might also depend on what type of psychologists you book. You might score a cheaper rate if you book with a practicum psychologist than you might if you go with a senior psychologist.
Clarke Psychological

Address: 10432 123 St NW #203
Operating Hours:
- Monday to Friday—9 am to 5 pm
- Saturday—9 am to 3 pm
Contact Number: +17806040684
Clarke Psychological is the clinic that many of my extended family members vouch for, mostly because they have little kids, and this clinic works with kids as well.
The most sought-after service here is the psychoeducational assessment, which measures intelligence, academic skills, emotional, and social skills of a young student. It also helps identify any behavioural factors that influence how a young person learns.
According to my aunts and uncles, this assessment is super thorough, and Dr. Clarke makes sure to explain all the results to them clearly.
If the results show that the child has some problems in learning, Dr. Clarke offers treatment suggestions. His tendency to offer solutions immediately is one of the things my aunts and uncles love about him.
Another thing that my family members love about Dr. Clarke is his warm personality. He addresses everyone’s concerns with ease, and when he delivers the results, there’s no judgment in his voice. His calm and friendly demeanour helps soothe parents.
In addition to the psychoeducational assessment for young people, this clinic offers assessments for ADHD and autism, as well as accelerated resolution therapy and cognitive behavioural therapy.
Children are the most common patients here, but adults are welcome to book the clinic’s services as well.
If you’re not sure if this is the right clinic for you, you can book a 30-minute first consultation with a psychologist. This consultation allows you to check if you like the psychologist’s approach and the overall experience, so you can make an informed decision afterward. Oh, and this consultation is free!
When I asked my family members if they had any complaints about this clinic, they told me that the communication could be erratic. They said that sometimes, it’s easy to get hold of the clinic, but sometimes, it’s the opposite.
On occasion, they have to contact the clinic multiple times to book a session or reach their psychologist. This issue in communication can be annoying, but not so much that my family members would be tempted to find another clinic.

J. Gordon Psychology Group

Address: 4710 99 St NW
Operating Hours:
- Monday to Friday—8 am to 8 pm
- Saturday and Sunday—9 am to 5 pm
Contact Number: +17809384473
Another great clinic you can go to if you’re looking for child psychologists, in particular, is J. Gordon Psychology Group. The psychologists at this clinic are trained to deal with kids aged 0 and 18 years old, so whether your child is a toddler or a teenager, they can get the help they need here.
I’m impressed with the clinic’s areas of focus because they’re pretty diverse. Heavy issues, such as anxiety, depression, self-harm, grief and loss, trauma, are most commonly treated here, and from what past clients have told me, psychologists here handle them like a champ.
This clinic also offers all sorts of psychological assessments, like tests for ADHD and autism.
Even though children are the main clientele here, adults can book sessions as well. This clinic is particularly great for parents dealing with the challenges of raising a child.
I have a friend who has therapy sessions here, and she told me how helpful her psychologist has been during the first few years of her first child. In fact, she described this clinic as her lifeline, the one thing that kept her from going insane (her words, not mine).
Not sure if this is the clinic for you? Don’t worry, you can request a free consultation. This consultation usually lasts around 30 minutes, which is enough time for you to assess whether you like the psychologist’s approach or not.
The only downside I keep hearing about this clinic is concerning its communication. They do offer various means of communication—you can call, email, or send a request via the website’s contact form—but sometimes, they don’t reply.

Consciousness Studio

Address: Second Floor, 6732 75 Street NW Suite # 200
Operating Hours: Monday to Sunday—8 am to 7 pm
Contact Number: +17808037792
I checked out Consciousness Studio for the first time years ago at the behest of my friend. One thing I like about them is that they combine the standardized, evidence-based healing models of Western psychology practices with Eastern wellness practices like mindfulness and meditation.
A session with a psychologist here doesn’t feel rigid. I’m allowed to focus on my emotions instead of just rationalizing why I’m feeling a certain way.
Another great thing about this clinic is that the procedure is personalized. So, if you find that the method isn’t working for you, the psychologist can shift to a different one; you repeat this process until you get it right.
This clinic also offers a great range of specialties. I mostly come here to help manage my depression and anxiety, but the psychologists are also equipped to deal with complex trauma, trauma due to motor vehicle accidents, adjustment issues, grief and bereavement, phobias, substance use disorders, and panic disorder.
They also offer couples therapy and psychoeducational assessment.
One small complaint I have for this clinic is that it can be hard to find, especially if you’ve never been here before. It’s located on the second floor of a building, and there’s no sign outside letting you know where to go. The first time I came here, I had to call the receptionist for help, and she had to go out of the building to find me.

Summit Counselling Services

Address: 10328 121 St NW
Operating Hours:
- Monday to Thursday—9 am to 9 pm
- Friday—9 am to 8 pm
- Saturday—9 am to 6 pm
- Sunday—9 am to 5 pm

I keep hearing good things about Summit Counselling Services, so naturally, I had to check it out. After a few sessions (and a conversation with a few people who also go here), I have to say I understand all the praise.
First things first: the lineup of services here is astounding! The psychologists have their own specialties, including trauma, grief/loss, identity issues, sports and performance therapy, sexuality and gender, postpartum issues, eco-grief and anxiety, and first responders/veterans trauma.
They also use various methods, like accelerated resolution therapy, play therapy, and—my personal favourite—animal-assisted therapy.
Since they offer many specialties and services, their clientele includes both children and adults. I asked around and also discovered that many people in the LGBTQIA+ community love coming here because they feel understood and accepted. That’s always a good sign in my book.
I do like that this clinic offers a free phone consultation before booking a full session. Doing so lets you see if you vibe with any of their psychologists before making a commitment. If you don’t, no worries at all! No money will be wasted.
Oh, and before I forget, this clinic offers online therapy as well—if you reside in Alberta, that is. I love that they offer this option because it makes things more accessible and convenient to everyone who has a busy schedule. Or maybe you just don’t want to leave your house—don’t worry, you can still have therapy!
They are pretty strict about appointments and cancellations, though. If you need to cancel, you have to do it at least 48 hours before your scheduled session, or else, a full session fee will be charged.

Little Tree Psychology

Address: 2899 Broadmoor Blvd #220, Sherwood Park
Operating Hours: Monday to Sunday—9 am to 9 pm
Contact Number: +15874560756
Little Tree Psychology is located all the way in Sherwood Park, on the outskirts of the city, but it’s so popular that I have a few friends who willingly travel all the way there just to get their services. This dedication has my interest piqued.
This clinic is best known for child and teen psychology, but they also offer individual counselling and even corporate services.
In terms of specialties, the lineup is broad; the psychologists here have experience dealing with issues like anxiety, depression, trauma, stress and burnout, grief, relationships, and more.
I also really like that the psychologists here are trained in different methods, such as cognitive behavioural therapy, EMDR, and somatic experiencing. This gives you the opportunity to switch to a different one if the method you and your psychologist have chosen isn’t working.
This clinic also offers free consultation to anyone interested, which is convenient. You get to pick your preferred psychologist, then you talk for about thirty minutes or so. It may sound short, but this consultation is enough to form an impression and decide if you want to book a full session next time.
However, one downside to this clinic is that it can be tricky to find. It has a small sign, and if you’re not paying attention, you’re definitely going to miss it.
