The Foot Institute has been around for almost 30 years, and you can find seven of their clinics across Edmonton. I checked them out while comparing options, and they really do cover a wide range of treatments.
Their surgeons handle bunion surgery by realigning bones and soft tissue, sometimes shaving off the bump or stabilizing the joint. After surgery, you’re usually in a boot for weeks with follow-ups and X-rays to check healing.
What’s interesting is that they offer the K-Laser therapy, which can help speed up recovery after surgery.
On the flip side, I heard that some of their podiatrists have shown up late to appointments. A few patients also mentioned rude behaviour from staff, which is disappointing.

That’s because they focus on minimally invasive bunion surgery. Here, they use small incisions and careful alignment to reduce the impact on your foot.
They also provide customized orthotics, particularly Cryos Orthotics, which are designed to be lightweight and comfortable. These can help with recovery and make daily wear less of a burden.
It’s also a good thing that they don’t require referrals and are even willing to direct bill insurance companies.
