Start a future-proof hustle with the best coding classes in Edmonton!
My nephew has always been obsessed with programming—especially building those cool redstone automations in Minecraft. I knew that kind of passion could take him far, so I surprised him by signing him up for after-school coding classes.
He’s loving every minute of it and keeps telling me about the cool projects they’re working on. Seeing his excitement made me realize how tough coding can feel if you’re trying to learn alone.
With the right classes, though, it’s actually fun and inspiring! That’s why I’ve rounded up the best coding classes in Edmonton, perfect for both kids and adults ready to dive in.
How much does it cost to attend a coding class in Edmonton?
The cost of coding classes in Edmonton varies depending on age group, program length, and specialization. Kids’ after-school programs typically run around $200 per month, while professional training courses for adults average about $1,850.

I chose Code Ninjas for my nephew to build his coding skills, and it has been a safe pick! They’ve been around for about a decade, and there are four locations in Edmonton, including one close to his home.
I signed him up for the CREATE program, which uses their own software to teach coding while keeping kids engaged with a lively interface that feels like a video game.
They also run special classes built around Minecraft and Roblox, which worked perfectly since my nephew loves experimenting with redstone in Minecraft.
I like that they offer AI classes, too, because I think it’s important for kids to learn where technology is heading. They even host coding-themed birthday parties, which is a fun option if you want something different!
The only drawbacks are the varying prices between centres and the fact that programs are limited to ages 5–14.
My son loves his coding lessons here
“My son loves his coding lessons here. He’s been coming to their centre for over a year now and he loves how tangible the progress is. He gets a thrill out of coding and seeing his work come to life. Also, it’s a wonderful environment full of like-minded children who share similar interests. And the staff are just fantastic people! Very friendly and accommodating, always willing to help. I highly recommend this program as your child’s extracurricular activity. These are valuable real world skills. Worth every penny.”

2. Discover Coding

Classes offered: Video game design, Minecraft modding, Roblox coding, app creation, Python programming, and more
Address: 9650 20 Ave NW Unit 117
Phone number: +1 833-588-2633
Business hours:
9:00 AM – 4:00 PM (MON-FRI)
10:00 AM – 2:00 PM (SAT and SUN)
Since coding can feel intimidating at times, I’m glad that centres like Discover Coding exist. They’ve been around since 2017 and focus on discovery-based learning, which means kids get to experiment and figure things out instead of just following instructions.
They make it easy to learn by setting up classrooms with laptops, desktops, and iPads, so students don’t need to bring their own gadgets.
Class sizes are reasonable, with about ten students and two instructors, which helps ensure everyone gets attention. But for those who want more focused guidance, private tutoring is available.
Unfortunately, they don’t offer after-school programs every year, which can make scheduling tricky for families. Another issue is that spots fill quickly, so being waitlisted is common.
It’s a great introduction to computers and coding for young children
“Discover Coding program in school is great! My kids really enjoy it, and I believe it’s a great introduction to computers and coding for young children. Their summer camps are amazing, my son said the Minecraft camp was the funnest camp all summer! Keep it up, and continue coming to the schools!”

It’s a great way to learn and have fun
“Discover Coding classes are amazing. Both my girls (ages 8 and 10) enjoyed the various classes including Discover Explorers, Discoverers and Minecraft. They have been in the summer classes in person and have also tried the virtual classes and have loved both. The instructors are fun, knowledgeable and patient. These classes are great for both beginners or those that have experience in coding. It’s a great way to learn and have fun. I would recommend Discover Coding 100%!”

Founded in 2018, Ultimate Coders is another good choice if you’re looking for small class sizes. They run two locations in the city and focus on teaching kids coding, game design, and even 3D printing!
Their classes typically follow a 6:1 student-teacher ratio, so kids get more attention. They also offer virtual coding classes for kids who would rather learn from home.
What stood out to me is that there’s no registration fee, and they let you try a class before signing up. Families with more than one child can also get a sibling discount, which is handy.
That said, it’s disappointing that pricing is different depending on which location you choose. They also use a monthly subscription system that renews automatically unless you cancel with a week’s notice.
Super knowledgeable and know how to have fun!
“These guys are the best! Super knowledgeable and know how to have fun! The owners are extremely involved and ensure that kids leave with lots of learning and new coding skills. Can’t say enough about this place!! Would totally recommend their programs :)”

4. Zebra Robotics

Address: 5679 Riverbend Rd NW
Phone number: +1 825-967-7836
Business hours:
2:30 PM – 7:00 PM (MON-THURS)
11:00 AM – 5:00 PM (SAT)
If you’re a parent looking for something beyond basic coding, Zebra Robotics is worth checking out. They’ve been teaching robotics and coding for more than 11 years, so their students learn a lot of stuff about building and operating robots.
They have three locations around the city, but they also offer virtual classes if your kid prefers learning from home. I noticed their class sizes are small, with about five students per teacher, which makes the learning feel more personal.
What impressed me most was how often they encourage students to join competitions like VEX and FIRST Robotics. Their teams have already won 203 awards worldwide, which says a lot about their program!
However, classes are only for Grades 1 to 12, and payments are limited to cheques or debit.
Genuinely passionate about coding and robotics
“Absolutely recommend! The owners are incredibly kind and genuinely passionate about coding and robotics. The instructors are patient, supportive, and my son loved learning from them. If your child is interested in coding or robotics, I couldn’t recommend Zebra Robotics more.”

My son goes to Robotics class and he loves it
“This group is amazing! My son goes to Robotics class and he loves it. He is so looking forward for his class every week. Aruna and Sachin the owners are wonderful and so flexible and accommodating. The content is rich and instructors are very passionate, knowledgeable and encouraging. One of the biggest differences I saw between Zebra Robotics and other classes is the way they teach kids to approach and solve a problem. There are a set of challenges in each lesson which kids need to think about and find a way to solve and the instructor directs them but does not give out the answer. I highly recommend the Riverbend branch.”

5. InnoTech College

Classes offered: Full Stack Development and the SharePoint Development Program
Address: 10080 Jasper Ave #208
Phone number: +1 403-218-2912
Business hours: 9:30 AM – 6:00 PM (MON-FRI)
InnoTech College is a small private school that focuses on practical coding and IT training. It’s licensed under Alberta’s Private Vocational Training Act, so it’s legit, but the feel is more hands-on than academic.
Their main draw is the Full Stack Development diploma, which covers front-end and back-end coding and lets beginners build a portfolio through real projects. They also offer a SharePoint program that’s shorter and aimed at enterprise work.
I appreciate that career coaching is included, with resume support and mock interviews that make students stand out to employers.
It’s good too that international students are welcome, and flexible schedules with evening and weekend classes make it easier for busy people to attend.
The downside is the higher tuition, and there’s also a non-refundable $75 application fee. Thankfully, funding options through loans, grants, and a learn now, pay later plan help ease the cost.
I am glad I chose this school
“I just finished my program at Innotech College and I am glad I chose this school. They teach you exactly what you need to know for the real world. The best part was the career support they actually helped me fix my resume and find a job in my field. If you want a school that cares about your future and does not just treat you like a number I think this is a great choice.”
