Ride better with the best bike shops in Edmonton!
Biking is one of my main hobbies, and over the years I’ve explored nearly every bike trail in Edmonton. For much of that time, my old bike from college was my steady companion, carrying me through countless rides.
Recently though, it finally gave out, and fixing it seemed more hassle than it was worth. That pushed me to spend the past few weeks visiting bike shops around the city, determined to find a ride that could last for years.
After plenty of stops, I found the right one, and now I’m sharing my picks for the best bike shops in Edmonton where riders can trust both the bikes and the service.
How much does a bike cost in Edmonton?
Bike prices in Edmonton vary depending on the type and quality. Kids’ bikes usually cost around $310, standard adult bikes average $850, gravel bikes go for about $2,100, and electric bikes are roughly $4,500.

United Sport & Cycle has been around since 1928, which gave me some confidence when I went there for my new bike. They carry a huge range of bikes from brands like Giant and Liv, so finding something that fits my needs was pretty easy.
At first, the number of options felt overwhelming, but their indoor test area helped a lot. I tried a few models before settling on one, and I liked that they offered financing to make the purchase easier on my wallet.
They also helped me register my bike, which feels reassuring in case it ever gets stolen. I later learned they have a trade-in program that lets people save a bit by turning in old bikes.
My only issue was the slow customer service. I waited about 10 minutes before someone helped, and I’ve heard others mention rude staff encounters, which is disappointing.

If you’re looking for solid bike servicing in Edmonton, check out Hardcore Bikes. Their store on Whyte Avenue handles a lot of the technical stuff right in-house, so you don’t have to visit multiple shops to keep your bike in top shape.
They do full fork and shock rebuilds for anyone wanting to tune or maintain their suspension. They also offer the RideWrap frame protection if you want to keep your bike looking fresh.
I’ve noticed they carry bikes from brands like Norco, Trek, and Benno, and they often run clearance sales that make upgrades a bit more affordable. Financing is also available if you’re planning a bigger purchase.
On the flip side, they sometimes forget to respond to enquiries, and their refund policy is strict. Bikes and helmets aren’t refundable, so it’s best to double-check before buying.

Since bikes aren’t exactly cheap, I think it’s great that Bike Edmonton Downtown Community Workshop exists. Volunteers keep it running with the goal of making biking accessible, and you notice that vibe as soon as you step in.
Most of what they sell are used bikes. The as-is ones start around $40, which is handy if you just need something cheap to get around. Refurbished bikes cost more, usually around $250, but they’re tuned up and ready to ride.
I’ve found their stash of older parts useful too, especially if you’re trying to keep a vintage bike alive. They also run the Right To Ride program, where you can learn repairs with guidance. They even rent bike generators for events.
The only downsides are their short operating hours and the fact they only sell used bikes, so you’ll need to look elsewhere if you prefer brand-new.

Redbike was founded in 1997 and offers a surprisingly huge range of bikes. I checked them out after hearing good things and found mountain, road, commuter, and even BMX options lined up neatly.
They’ve got cargo bikes too, which are perfect if you’re hauling groceries or kids around town. But what really stood out to me was their Scratch Builds program, where you can design your own bike from the frame up.
They also rent bikes and offer solid service packages for tune-ups and repairs.
It’s not all perfect, though. Some items aren’t stocked regularly, and a few people I’ve talked to mentioned staff interactions that felt a bit dismissive.

The shop has more of a cozy club house vibe than a retail space. Red Bike staff seem genuinely stoked to get more people out on bikes. Mud Sweat and Gears is a shop I’d recommend if you’re trying to get a good deal on a bike. They carry solid brands like Bianchi, Cervelo, and Norco, so you’re not getting anything unreliable.
What I find interesting is their E-Bike Demo Tour, which lets you test different models on Alberta trails such as Terwillegar Park and Gold Bar Park. Once you’ve picked a bike, they offer price matching and financing to make things easier on your wallet.
Their service side is pretty solid too. They provide in-house paint protection film to keep your frame looking clean and offer a 30-day guarantee on all their work, which adds a bit of confidence when you bring your bike in.
That said, I find it disappointing that some items aren’t always in stock. They also have a $39.99 surcharge when servicing e-bikes.
