As a homeowner, my favourite part of a kitchen renovation is choosing the countertop (made better if you do it with these kitchen remodelers). How the countertop looks affects the overall atmosphere of a kitchen.
That’s why I was obsessive when I was renovating my kitchen. I was constantly looking up pictures of countertops, which eventually paid off because now I have a kitchen that I love.

RF Kitchen and Countertops by KJ Granite is best known for its granite countertops, but they also offer other materials, namely marble and quartz. They can even do full-on kitchen renovations!
The first thing that I liked about this company is the friendly staff. They answered every question I asked them, and I didn’t feel like they were being pushy with me. When they suggested something that I didn’t like, they just let it go.
The second thing I liked is the variety of options. Just with their granite countertops alone, there are many variations, each one having its own unique appearance and vibe. I had to take many samples to see which one I’d like best in my kitchen!
The installation crew was also fantastic. The seam is nearly invisible, which is so impressive, and the installers were super accommodating with me. Even with changes, they did them without any fuss.
That said, I heard some issues about their customer service. One client shared that he had an issue, but when he raised it to customer service, it was like he was talking to the air. He said that for matters like that, it’s best if you go straight to the owner.

People are also impressed with how quickly the staff works here. One client shared that she just walked in on a Saturday, talked with a staff member who gave her many recommendations, and then, in a week, measurements were done.
Just two weeks after her initial visit to the store, she received a call letting her know that her countertops were ready. She was impressed, especially since the initial estimated timeline was 2.5 weeks!
The crew is also efficient and professional. According to most clients, the installation is seamless. Sometimes, they forget they actually bought new countertops; that’s how well the countertops blend in their kitchens!
The prices are amazing as well—more affordable than other companies, the clients told me. If you’re not sure, you can ask for free quotes, and someone will provide them to you via email.
That said, some clients complained about poor communication. They told me that the team rarely called them in between the consultation and installation date, and when there was an issue, they took forever to deal with it.

“Carlos was a pleasure to deal with. Very knowledgeable and informative on their products. They were able to cut our quartz countertops out of one slab. Even had enough extra for an additional ledge below the kitchen window. Although there is an unavoidable seam on one side of our countertops (pictured corner section) you really have to look closely to find it. Otherwise unnoticeable and smooth. Don’t let the name fool you—CA Granite offers more than just granite countertops. They also have quartz, marble, and even porcelain options in their repertoire!
This company is family-operated, which I love because the service has a personal touch. A client said that the owner, Al, himself attended to them when he came for his consultation, and then he went to his house the same day to do the measurements.
Right on the spot, he gave the client quotes, which he had already itemized. The client appreciated the transparency.
The installation was carried out smoothly, too. The crew came on time and made sure to clean up the work area when they were done.
After the installation, the company will send another team for a final inspection. They will check that the countertops meet your expectations, and if you have any adjustments, they’ll get right to them.
That said, I’ve heard some issues about the in-store staff. One client told me that when she went to the store, a staff member was sleeping. Eventually, he woke up and attended to her, but it seemed like he had little knowledge about the products.
This can be frustrating, and I hope that this is an isolated situation.

Their collection of options is unparalleled. In addition to the bestselling quartz and granite options, they also offer solid surface, quartz, and porcelain. Don’t even get me started with the colour variations; they have a ton of them as well!
They even have express versions of some of their products! This is good news to people who are in a rush to get their renovations done.
Another thing that makes this company stand out is the fact that they have a visualizer. This lets you choose materials and colours to see how they might look in your room. This tool also provides quotes, which is even better news!
I love that this company has some special promos and deals every now and then. One that’s currently active is their Buy Now, Pay Later program, which has 0% interest for nine months.
Unfortunately, I’ve heard some complaints about their installation. Some clients told me that the measurements were wrong, and the crew drilled holes in the wrong locations. It might be better to just buy the products from them and hire another contractor for the service.

Another great family-run countertop business in Edmonton is AB Countertops Ltd. They serve residential and commercial clients in several locations across Alberta, so it’s not a surprise they’re popular.
The whole process is smooth from start to finish. First, you’ll have a consultation with a sales representative at the showroom, where you can discuss your vision. Then, you’ll plan the design, and the representative will offer an estimate based on it.
Once you’ve agreed to everything, it’s time for fabrication. When your countertops are ready, a crew will come to your house to install them. All this usually takes place one to two weeks after the initial consultation.
Clients have great things to say about the team. First, they’re communicative. They send updates throughout the project, and secondly, they arrive at the house on time and finish the installation within the schedule.
Unfortunately, many clients complained about poor workmanship. One told me that their measurements weren’t perfect and there were scratches on the countertops. He shared that although it was affordable, he didn’t feel like it was worth it.
Like the last entry, we recommend buying the products from them and hiring a different service for the installation.
