The best home healthcare services in Edmonton truly care
Back in 2019, my maternal grandmother had a stroke, an emergency that undoubtedly shook my entire family. The hospitalization and bills had us swamped, and then there was the issue of who was going to take care of her when she was discharged.
A cousin suggested that we try a home healthcare service, and thank goodness we did because it was a game-changer! Nurses and doctors come to our home to check on my grandmother, instead of us coming to them. It was so convenient.
To this day, we’re still employing the services of home healthcare providers. We’ve tried a good number of them now, but these are the ones we wholeheartedly recommend.
How much does home healthcare cost in Edmonton?
Home healthcare cost in Edmonton is usually charged by the hour, with the ballpark falling within C$25 and C$40. Some institutions prefer charging by the day, and their rates range between C$200 and C$250.
InCasa Home Care Edmonton

Address: 14165 162 Ave NW Unit #2, Jordan Business Center
Operating Hours: Open 24 hours
Contact Number: +17806049688
InCasa Home Care Edmonton was the first one I turned to when my grandmother fell ill, and though I’ve tried (and loved) many others, I still find myself coming back here. It’s hard not to, especially when my grandma and I have built a strong rapport with many of the nurses at this company!
The main reason my family and I love InCasa is that they offer a wide array of services. At the time, we only booked personal care because my grandma just needed help bathing, dressing, and performing other daily activities.
But they also have palliative care, as well as professionals who are trained to help people with certain conditions like Alzheimer’s, dementia, and Parkinson’s. You can even book a live-in aide if someone in your family needs assistance 24/7.
The staff here is also lovely. Even though I work from home, my grandma and I don’t spend all the time together because I’m often busy. Thankfully, the aides from InCasa provided her with such warm company. They also have a great sense of humour; it makes my heart swell to see my grandma laughing.
Another thing that you might want to know about InCasa is that they’re in partnership with Alberta Blue Cross. If this is your insurance provider, you can set up seamless billing with InCasa. That way, you won’t have to deal with the hassle of paperwork, plus you get to save money as well!
I know that the process of finding the right home healthcare professional can seem daunting, but InCasa works hard to ensure this won’t be the case. You can book a free consultation with one of the staff members, which allows you to explain your circumstances and your needs.
The professional will then offer the best service to book based on what you’ve said. This is also your chance to get a vibe from the staff. Are they friendly or not? If yes, then it’s a sign they’re worth considering.
This company’s rates are higher than usual, though—at least from experience and also based on others’ testimonials. The price difference isn’t that huge—just a couple of dollars more per hour—so there’s that.

Infinity Healthcare

Address: 10004 104 Ave NW
Operating Hours: Open 24 hours
Contact Number: +17808097884
We first heard about Infinity Healthcare from our neighbour. Her husband, unfortunately, got into a motor accident that left him incapable of moving for a long time, so he needed extra help. She booked an aide from this company, and she had nothing but good things to say. So, of course, we had to try them out for ourselves.
True enough, this is a wonderful home healthcare company. They have certified aides and licensed and registered nurses who are friendly and compassionate. When my grandma is in distress, they’re quick to calm her down, which I appreciate.
They also treat their customers with respect.
I’ve asked a few former clients who booked home healthcare aides from this company for their loved ones with dementia and Alzheimer’s. Their past aides used to treat their loved ones with these conditions like they were children, but not the people from Infinity Healthcare. These aides treated their patients like actual adults, and former clients really liked that.
Another great thing about Infinity Healthcare is that they serve many areas. Of course, Edmonton is their priority, but they also offer their services to people in St. Albert, Sherwood Park, Spruce Grove, Stony Plain, Lethbridge, Red Deer, Lloydminster, and more.
Infinity Healthcare also serves patients of all ages, which is great news for people who need healthcare aides for their children. From what I’ve heard, the service for young patients is just as incredible; the aides are just as warm and professional, and the clients are more than happy with their service.
Here’s another piece of good news: Infinity Healthcare is included in the Client Directed Health Care Invoicing Program (CDHCI), which is a program offered through Alberta Health Services (AHS). If you live in this province, you can book a service at Infinity Healthcare and have the billing be directed to AHS. Save time and money? Say less!
If you have any issues at all, you can simply reach out to any of their Customer Care Navigators, who are available 24/7! This feature is so convenient because we can contact them as soon as a problem arises. It gives us peace of mind, and for that, I’m grateful.
The only downside is that this company seems to be busy a lot of the time. So, it might take some time before your booking gets finalized, but once it does, it’s smooth sailing from here on out.

Right at Home – In Home Care Edmonton

Address: 9129 35 Ave NW #202
Operating Hours: Open 24 hours
Contact Number: +15873880880
Right at Home is a well-known home healthcare service in the US, so when I heard that they also operate in Canada—in Edmonton, no less—I was intrigued. After trying their service for a few months, I can say that their popularity is pretty justified.
First things first, Right at Home is a certified CDHCI provider. What this means is that their services are subsidized by the AHS. So, you can book an aide or a nurse here, but you don’t have to pay a dime—just send the direct billing to AHS, and you’re good to go! It’s such a great feature, especially for people on a tight budget.
That said, do keep in mind that only Albertan residents with a valid healthcare card are eligible to enjoy this benefit. If, on the off-chance you’re not yet an official Albertan resident (maybe you just recently moved here or you’re here for a limited time) or you’re a resident without a valid health card, you’ll have to pay out of pocket. Other insurance plans like Medicare aren’t eligible here as well.
The lineup of services here is pretty good as well. They have nurses who can monitor your loved one’s health vitals and caregivers who are trained to help patients with certain conditions like Alzheimer’s and diabetes.
They even have aides who can help you with daily stuff like housekeeping or who can keep you company for the time being.
As for the nurses, caregivers, and aides here, all I can say is that they make you feel right at home. They’re compassionate and supportive, which are two characteristics that are necessary when taking care of an ailing loved one.
Plus, they’re calm under pressure and knowledgeable; they know exactly what to do when problems arise, and they act quickly.
Another thing that I love about this company is that the service plan is catered specifically to our needs and budget. They charge per hour, so you can adjust the number of hours you require to stay within your means.
If you’re not sure about this setup, you can have a consultation first to iron out the details. The best part is that this consultation can be done in your home, so you don’t have to travel to the office at all.

Nurse Next Door Home Care Services

Address: #203, 5920 Gateway Blvd NW
Operating Hours: Open 24 hours
Contact Number: +17807374323
Nurse Next Door Home Care Services may be based in Edmonton, but that doesn’t mean their services are limited to people living in the city. In fact, their clientele covers a wide range, including Stony Plain, Spruce Grove, Leduc, Devon, Beaumont, and more!
I love that they go out of their way to offer services to people living beyond the city. It just shows that they’re truly committed to lending a helping hand.
This home healthcare company is also perfect for clients with loved ones who need medical care but are well enough to stay at home. Their nurses are trained to handle post-operative care and medical management, so you get the same care as you do at a hospital without racking up a crazy bill.
If you or your loved one doesn’t need medical attention, you can book an aide to accompany you on your day-to-day routine, like bathing, meal-prepping, and more. End-of-life care is also available here.
Nurses Next Door is open to caring for patients of all ages. Senior citizens are their most common patients, but I’ve heard that they’ve helped children as well, especially those with severe autism and other conditions.
I asked a co-worker who had an aide from this company for her son with autism, and she said she loved the service she got. According to her, her son can be a handful at times, but the aide took everything in stride, and no matter how bad things got, she still treated the young boy with understanding and compassion. That’s so lovely to hear.
If you have any questions or issues before you want to commit, you can have a free consultation where you can meet with one of the nurses or aides and chat. Tell them about your issues and needs, and they’ll offer you a suggestion.
This is also the best time to see if you’re vibing with each other. After that consultation, you can contact the company’s care team if you have even more questions. This team is ready to respond every day, which I appreciate.
As much as I want to sing praises about my experience with this company, I do have one complaint, and that is that the management could be better. I’ve heard that they don’t treat their staff well.
It also seems like this company has staffing issues sometimes. If your aide is sick, no one is sent for replacement. Maybe this is another sign that the management should improve so that they can hire and retain more staff members.

Consistently excellent service
“We have been receiving respite care services for my now 14-year-old son, who has severe autism, from Nurse Next Door for the past eight years. Our experience with the organization has been consistently excellent. I am especially grateful for our regular caregivers, such as Anna M., who has been with us since the very beginning, and Darshit, who is newer to our family but has already shown exceptional care and dedication. I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to the entire team for your hard work and compassion. You have been a true blessing to our family and to many others.”

Ember Healthcare

Address: 9426 51 Ave NW #201, ELM Business Park
Operating Hours: Open 24 hours
Contact Number: +15874012643
One thing I love about Ember Healthcare is that they ensure to make things more convenient for their customers. A perfect example of this is their consultation. If you’re in need of a nurse or an aide but you’re not yet sure, you can book a consultation from this company, and instead of you driving down to their office, they will come to you at your house!
Once they’re at your house, you can start the consultation by laying down all your issues and needs. Then, the team from Ember will craft a carefully curated plan that they think will work best for you based on what you just shared.
For services, you have many options. If your loved one just got out of the hospital, you can employ any of the nurses, who can help you keep track of the medications and make sure the vitals are good.
They also offer palliative care, crisis management, dementia care, and even care for children, veterans, and pets. If you just need help with a bit of housekeeping, they can provide that too.
Another great thing about Ember Healthcare is that they’re a certified CDHCI provider, which means they’re publicly funded by the AHS. So, if you book their services, your bill will be directed to the AHS instead of to you. You’re essentially getting their services for free!
As for the service, all I can say is that everything is great. Communication is top-notch; everyone is responsive, from the management team to the nurses and aides. They’re also warm and compassionate. I feel at ease knowing that my grandma is under their care.
However, their rates are usually on the higher end, which I don’t necessarily mind, but I know some other people do. So, keep that in mind when booking your services here.

Communication is seamless, thanks to Operations & Scheduling Manager Nicole. She’s highly responsive, ensuring consistent coverage and flexibility whenever adjustments arise. The entire team prioritizes transparency, keeping us informed every step of the way. Ember Healthcare combines professionalism with heartfelt care. From Tammy’s leadership to Margie’s skill and Nicole’s efficiency, they’ve earned our trust. Highly recommend to anyone seeking reliable, compassionate in-home care in Edmonton!”

Amazing staff
“The staff at Ember are amazing. They are providing a care aid for my 88 year old Mom while she is in a long-term care facility. With her dementia, she needs more hands on personal care than what the LTC facility can provide. Her care aids are engaging her and keeping her busy and active. It’s wonderful that my Mom is getting great care on the days that I can’t be there.”
