Having Fun with New Friends at the Best Members’ Clubs in Edmonton
As someone who lives alone and works from home, I admit that sometimes, I feel isolated and lonely. So in recent years, I joined members’ clubs in Edmonton—to be more specific, the ones where I can play golf or some other sport.
Now, I have new friends I can hang out with on the weekends, much to my relief!
Looking for companionship as well? Here are some members’ clubs in Edmonton you can hit up.
Edmonton Country Club
– From: edmcountryclub
Address: 6201 Country Club Rd NW
Contact Number: +17804871150
Established in 1896, the Edmonton Country Club is one of the oldest members’ clubs in the city, and it’s also the first one I ever joined.
The main highlight here is undoubtedly the golf course, which looks like a green paradise. I especially like playing in the late afternoon, just as soon as the sun sets, because the atmosphere is peaceful, and the scenery is beautiful (the golden sky!).
Aside from the golf course, this club has its own bar and dining room, so you can enjoy a glass of wine or a plate of steak and mashed potatoes after golfing. There’s even a patio, which boasts gorgeous views of the city.
Pro Tips: Membership slots are limited here. You’ll know if there are any available spots every summer. You can also book this place for a special event. |

The Royal Glenora Club is aptly named because it does make me feel royal. The sky-high ceilings, the twinkling overhead lights, and the dining spaces with a menu inspired by European cuisines—everything is giving modern palace vibes.
This club has many amenities as well. Physically active people will love the various spaces for athletics here; they have a pool, a gym, a basketball court, tennis courts, an ice arena, and so much more!
After everything, head to the spa and get the most relaxing massage of your life. There’s also a child care section if you’re coming with your kids.
Pro Tip: You can host a special event or a corporate gathering in any of the venues here. |

If you’re more of a soccer enthusiast, then Viktoria Soccer Club is for you.
What people like most about this club is that it has many fields varying in size, so you can have your full-on match with other players, or you can enjoy a casual solo practice play. And if it’s raining outside, there are also indoor fields available.
That’s not all! There are also lounges. One has a bar and dance floor, perfect for partying, while the other is a sports lounge, where you can play games or watch sports matches on the TV.
Pro Tip: Their multi-facility season pass also includes entry to the three Edmonton Soccer Association Indoor Facilities, the Scottish Dome, and the FC Viktoria Soccer Center. |

The BGC Big Brothers Big Sisters (BGCBigs) of Edmonton and Area is a unique club on this list because this one specifically caters to the youth (teenagers and young children).
BGCBigs has seven community clubs in the city, and they’re places where young people can socialize with their peers through arts and culture, physical activity, and more.
The best part about BGCBigs is that registering for their clubs is free! You just have to fill out this form.
Pro Tip: Even though their clubs are free, I recommend donating when you have spare cash. This is to ensure that BGCBigs can continue to operate free clubs in the future. |

Edmonton Sport and Social Club is another one that’s perfect for my fellow sporty people. The best part about this club is that it welcomes players of all levels—from beginners to professionals.
The list of sports available here is unparalleled. I’ve personally played matches in badminton, bowling, and golf, but I’ve also watched other people playing games like pickleball, ice hockey, and kickball. I’m sure there are still more options here!

There’s also a cafe here where you can treat yourself to gourmet dishes all day long. I’m a big fan of their pork tomahawk; the pork itself is tender and juicy, and it tastes savoury with a hint of sweetness, thanks to the honeycrisp apple thyme jam.

Some of my friends are members here, and I’ve also gone as their guests, and the vibe is just so much fun! They have annual dinner dances, Christmas parties, jam sessions, and—my personal favourite—pub quizzes (I’m a trivia nerd, okay?).
The club also hosts live watching of sports matches, such as the GAA Games and the Jack Bell Cup. There’s just so much opportunity for fun here!

I’d never heard of squash before—that is, until I decided to become a member at the Edmonton Squash Club for a few months. And you know what, it’s so much fun!
When I was still a member here, I spent much of my time in their learn-to-play programs with other fellow newbies, and it was such a grand ole time. Though I didn’t participate, I did watch the friendly sparring matches, and those were thrilling as well.
While you’re encouraged to sign up for any squash match you want to play, the club does host drop-in sessions in which you can just drop in and play with whoever is available.
Pro Tip: Is your squash equipment getting worn? You can buy new gear at the club’s own shop. |

If you’re a golf enthusiast who’s looking for a challenging course, you might like Windermere Golf and Country Club. I do find the courses here to be a bit difficult, but then again, I’m not a professional, so maybe it’s just a skill issue.
I also love how well-kept the whole place is. I think I’ll be content with just strolling because the surroundings are so peaceful and scenic. The clubhouse is clean and comfortable as well—the perfect place to unwind after a day of golfing.
Pro Tip: Visit their pro shop if your golf gear is getting old and worn out. |

The main highlight is the Kinsmen Sports Center, which has an Olympic-sized swimming pool for swimming and diving enthusiasts. If you’re visiting during the summer, you can choose to take a dip in the outdoor pool instead.
Pro Tip: You can volunteer at the club. Your tasks usually involve assisting with the club’s annual festivals by setting up and taking down the venue and the like. If you’re interested, fill out this form. |
Edmonton Petroleum Golf and Country Club

Address: 51320 Range Rd 260, Spruce Grove
Distance from EDM: Around 35 minutes

Contact Number: +17804700700
The Edmonton Petroleum Golf and Country Club is just a short drive away from the city, and if you’re a hardcore golfer, you might want to check it out.
This club boasts a massive golf course (roughly around 7,000 yards), so there’s a corner for every golfer, be it beginner or professional. I also love that the course has several ponds scattered throughout—such a pretty sight.
If you’re still a beginner, you might be interested in their Practice Facility. This is where they hold classes taught by the club’s professional golfers, and it has a full-length par 3, 4, and 5.
Pro Tip: After golfing, dine at their cafe. I recommend trying anything from their Feature Menu because entries change every two weeks. Plus, take a seat on the patio so that you can enjoy the view. |
Royal Mayfair Golf Club

Operating Hours: Monday to Sunday—8 am to 9 pm
Contact Number: +17804320066
Designed by iconic golf course architects Stanley Thompson and Les Furber, the Royal Mayfair Golf Club is a sight to behold. Oh, and it also hosted both the Canadian Open and Canadian Women’s Open in the past.
As a member, I love that I get first tee access every time because I can make last-minute golfing plans with my buddies. How convenient!
But my favourite perk is that members can access the other Royal golf clubs all over Canada and even abroad! No matter where I am, I can play a round of golf whenever I can.
Pro Tip: Still a newbie? This club has a 265-yard range where you can practice your swings. There’s also a coaching team, led by Mike Belbin, who will guide you. |
Jasper Place Curling Club
– From: jpcurling
Address: 16521 107 Ave NW
Operating Hours: Monday to Sunday—9 am to 12 am
Contact Number: +17804896428
I went to Jasper Place Curling Club on a whim, and I have to say it was so much fun! I didn’t know I would enjoy curling as a sport, but here we are.
I love that this club has a Learn-to-Curl program, which is usually held every weekend in the afternoon. In my experience, the classes were easily digestible, and the on-ice portion was tailored to my preference, so everything was seamless.
When I’m good enough, I’m thinking of participating in league play and competing against my fellow curlers. I’ve watched a few matches, and they were so entertaining and adrenaline-inducing!
Pro Tip: If you recruit a new team to the club, you’ll get C$200 in JP coins. You can use these coins for drinks, food, shop items, and even fees at the club. |
