The Best Swimming Lessons in Edmonton with Pro Instructors
I’ve always believed swimming is one of those must-know skills. It’s not just fun; it can literally save lives in an emergency. That’s why I started teaching my son early. But after a while, I realized I was only giving him the basics.
To really help him grow, I signed him up for proper lessons with pros. And it was the best decision ever, since he’s already looking like a natural whenever we hit the pool on family trips!
So if you’re thinking about learning or helping your kids, I’ll share the best swimming lessons in Edmonton to get you started. And for those who would like to test their skills, I’ll also share our lists of the best swimming pools and beaches around Edmonton.
How much do swimming lessons cost in Edmonton?
Swimming lesson costs in Edmonton vary depending on whether you choose group or private sessions, the age and skill level of the swimmer, and the facility. On average, expect to pay around $60 per session.
1. K & K Swim School

Lessons offered: Breath control, deep diving, floating, endurance training, stroke development, and more
Phone number: +1 877-350-7946
Business hours:
8:00 AM – 8:00 PM (SUN-THURS)
8:00 AM – 6:00 PM (FRI)
8:00 AM – 4:00 PM (SAT)
K & K Swim School was founded in 2014 and has built a decent reputation for its approach to teaching. Karim Zayed joined in 2016, bringing his background as a competitive swimmer who raced nationally and internationally. That kind of experience adds a lot of credibility to the program.
But what truly sets them apart is their Swimful curriculum, which focuses on mindfulness and breath control. It’s designed to help swimmers feel confident and eager to learn rather than just rushing through techniques.
And since most of their lessons are private and one-on-one, you can get personalized attention. They also offer lessons for folks with physical disabilities or neurodiversities, plus online options if you want extra guidance.
On the flip side, instructors sometimes change mid-program, which can break consistency. And since lessons are held in hotel pools, guests can sometimes crowd the space and distract learners.
K&K Swim has been amazing for my two kids
“K&K Swim has been amazing for my two kids. The structure and program has allowed them to refine and enhance their skills. I’ve been incredibly pleased with the company and the progress my kids have made in 3 months.”

All the instructors have been wonderful
“My daughter’s swimming has gotten so much better. She’s really confident in her skills and not scared to swim by herself anymore. This will be her 3rd season with K & K and all the instructors have been wonderful. I even signed up my son to start the winter session too!”

3:30 PM – 8:30 PM (FRI)
8:15 AM – 5:30 PM (SAT and SUN)
Since True Blue Swim School has six locations in Edmonton, it ended up being the place where my son learned to swim. Luckily, one of their pools is close to our home, so getting him to lessons has been easy.
What I really like is that they run a year-round program. You can join at any time without waiting for a new session, and they allow flexible scheduling so lessons don’t clash with school.
Their lessons follow the True Swim Curriculum, which they developed themselves. It focuses on confidence and real water safety, not just drills.
My son didn’t have to start from scratch either. They gave him a free assessment and placed him at an intermediate level since he already knew some basics.
However, it was a pain to get a slot since they have a long waitlist. Their prices are also higher than the average.
We love the small class sizes and individual attention
“We love the small class sizes and individual attention. Plus, it’s easy to get both my twins in at the same time. The staff are amazing as well!”

True Blue gets 5 stars across the board!
“True Blue gets 5 stars across the board! The high touch atmosphere and inviting, attentive staff make us feel welcome and cared for. We feel confident that our daughter gets the individual attention she needs to learn and progress much more effectively than traditional public swim lessons. Would highly recommend to any parent who wants their child in the hands of caring and competent instructors and who wants them to grow at their own pace without limits based on age!”

British Swim School (Play Store)
Another option that’s pretty accessible for most folks is British Swim School. They’ve got 11 locations scattered across the city and nearby spots like Stony Plain and Leduc, so finding a pool isn’t hard.
What’s interesting about them is their survival-first approach. Kids as young as three months start with floating and breathing basics before moving on to strokes. Adults can join too, whether they’re nervous beginners or training for triathlons.
I also like that they offer Dolphin Adaptive Aquatics for swimmers with special abilities and even run Survival Week lessons to practise lifesaving skills.
Furthermore, scheduling is flexible, and they have an app that makes signing up for classes simple.
The catch is that each location has different operating hours, which can be confusing, and payments are limited to Visa, MasterCard, or AmEx.
Great swimming lessons!
“Great swimming lessons! Instructors are friendly and great with the kids. Lessons seem well designed for children to progress at a comfortable pace.”
-Jason Leech, Google Reviews

4. Canyon Aqualife Swimming

Lessons offered: Water adaptation, floats and glides, kicking, crawl stroke, freestyle swimming, and more
Phone number: +1 780-250-2550
Business hours:
5:00 PM – 7:00 PM (MON-FRI)
9:00 AM – 5:00 PM (SAT and SUN)
One of the oldest swim clubs I’ve come across is Canyon Aqualife Swimming. It was founded by Coach Nathan Soman, an accomplished swimmer who started teaching in 1984 and is a member of the World Swimming Coaches Association.
They use the SwimAmerica system, which breaks swimming down into ten stages, and kids move through them with certificates and stickers marking progress. The classes are small, usually one instructor for five kids.
Adults can sign up too, and those lessons are taught directly by the director, which can be a nice touch if you want proper guidance. Once you finish, there’s even the option to join a competitive swim team.
However, please note that their coaching style is known to be strict, which works for some but not all. Fees aren’t shared upfront either, so you need to call or email to get the details.
Best swimming school!
“Best swimming school! Coach Nathan is so patient and the class sizes are small so it becomes almost like a private lesson at times. My son takes a while to warm up to instructors, but coach Nathan was so patient with him. Now my son loves going swimming every week and is doing so well! Highly recommend. The registration also comes with swimwear, goggles and cap. So that’s also a plus. And they are so quick with their communication since it’s a family run business.”

Our kids have become stronger and more confident swimmers
“We have been with Canyon swimming for almost 2 years now. Our kids have definitely progressed faster with Canyon than in our community swim program which was always impossible to register for. We have always experienced kind and professional communication with the office. Any concerns we’ve brought up have been discussed and addressed immediately. Our kids have become stronger and more confident swimmers with the instruction and techniques they have learned from coach Nathan.”

5. World Waterpark

Lessons offered: Basic submersion skills, floating skills, introductory strokes, endurance development, introductory lifeguard training, and more
Address: 8882 170 St NW
Phone number: +1 780-444-5300
Business hours:
12:00 PM – 5:00 PM (MON-THURS)
11:00 AM – 5:00 PM (FRI)
11:00 AM – 6:00 PM (SAT and SUN)
World Waterpark is usually talked about for its slides and the giant wave pool, so I was a bit surprised to learn they also run swimming lessons. It actually makes sense since the huge indoor pool lets them offer programs year-round.
They run semi-private classes with a 4:1 ratio for preschool kids, which really helps little ones get the attention they need. Adults can join too, and there’s lifeguard training for anyone who wants to take their skills further.
The lessons are built around Water Smart education, so the focus is on safety and giving swimmers the tools to handle basic emergencies in the water.
The downside is that the park is inside West Edmonton Mall, which can be a hassle if you live in the east end. Lessons also have a tendency to fill up quickly, so securing a slot can be difficult at times.
Offered great value and great service
“This place was clean, and offered great value and great service. Thank you for the kind gesture towards teachers. Much appreciated and will never be forgotten.”
