Careers by Design has been around for over 20 years, which gave me some confidence when I decided to reach out for career help. My overall experience was positive, especially since they started me off with a free chat to test the waters.
Their Turning Point sessions were a highlight. They use what they call the Head and Heart approach, which helped me calm my nerves and see my options more clearly.
I even walked away with a personalised roadmap that made it easier to remember what we covered once the sessions ended.
On the money side, I liked that my first session was discounted because it made trying them out feel less risky. They also offered bundled sessions, which gave me more support at a lower cost.
Unfortunately, they tend to get fully booked quickly. They also do everything by phone or Zoom, which may not suit everyone.

And what’s interesting is they don’t just stop at giving professional advice. Their eWork learning model gives you hands-on experience that feels like real projects so you can really get a feel of what it’s like to be in tech.
They also have this Apply for Me service, where they handle job applications on your behalf, which honestly feels like a relief if you’re tired of tweaking cover letters.
That said, their focus on tech means they’re not the best choice if you’re looking for careers outside that space. Their fees are also above-average, though they have flexible payment options that can help.

Resources With Results has a lot going for it, which is why I think it deserves a mention. It’s run by Lorna Bramley, a career coach with a master’s degree in counselling.
She’s also a member of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association and the Association of Counselling Therapy of Alberta (ACTA), so her credentials are solid.
That gave me the confidence that the advice and support offered here are backed by professional standards.
What impressed me is how flexible the services are. Whether you’re easing into retirement or trying to rejoin the workforce after a setback, they’ve got programs that feel tailored rather than one-size-fits-all.
However, they don’t list official business hours, so you’re left guessing when they’re available. Responses can also take up to 24 hours, so patience is sometimes needed.
