Drive, chip, and putt like a pro with the best golf coaches in Edmonton!

  • Experience and background - We looked at whether these coaches have solid playing or teaching experience, ideally with PGA of Canada certification, and whether they can cover various lessons like swing mechanics and short game skills.
  • Lesson approach - We considered how they teach: some use video analysis and simulators, while others stick to traditional drills. The right fit depends on how you like to learn.
  • Cost and value - We checked if lesson prices make sense given the coach’s expertise, facilities, and teaching styles. We also assessed whether they provide packages or membership plans to reduce the overall cost.
  • Accessibility - We noted if lessons are held at convenient locations around Edmonton and whether coaches offer flexible schedules that work for busy players.
  • Professionalism - We evaluated whether these coaches are patient, respectful, and easy to communicate with. A good coach should make you feel comfortable while pushing you to improve.

I’ve recently caught the golf bug and decided it was time to tee things up properly. The last thing I wanted was to miss every shot and look like a total rookie, so I booked a coach.

A couple of lessons later, I’m hitting straighter drives, sinking a few putts, and actually feeling confident enough to invite friends out for a round!

Since having the right coach made all the difference for me, I figured I’d share the best golf coaches in Edmonton, plus some of the top golf courses and mini-golf spots around town where you can enjoy the game.

How much does it cost to hire a golf coach in Edmonton?

The price of hiring a golf coach in Edmonton can vary depending on the coach, location, and type of lesson. In most cases, a coaching session will cost you around $110.

Harmeet Kahlon is the one who’s currently helping me with my goal of becoming a better golf player.

He’s got over 30 years of international golf experience and even won the Arjuna Award back in India, which gave me confidence that I was learning from someone legit.

The thing I like most about Harmeet is how he mixes old-school knowledge with modern tools.

Every session uses Launch Monitor Technology to track my swing and ball flights, and then he sends me video analysis through Skillest Golf so I can actually see what I’m doing right or wrong. It makes the lessons feel more concrete than just hitting balls on the range.

The only hiccups are that his location is a bit far if you’re coming from west Edmonton, and booking lessons means calling or signing up at the front desk.

Pros

  • Over 30 years of international golf expertise
  • Arjuna Award recipient and proven competitive success
  • Uses Launch Monitor Technology for precise swing data
  • Every lesson includes video analysis through Skillest Golf
  • Offers both outdoor and indoor coaching for year-round training
  • Equipment available for students

Cons

  • Location a bit far from Edmonton’s western neighbourhoods
  • Booking lessons require calling or signing up at the front desk

I saw a lot of improvement in my game

Golftec has two locations in Edmonton, one in West Point and another in Sherwood Park, which makes them pretty easy to get to. I like that they use modern tech to make lessons more effective and give golfers clear feedback.

They rely on Optimotion, a system that tracks thousands of points in your swing, so you can actually see where things go wrong. Lessons are offered in structured packages, and the app is useful since it stores your swing videos and drills.

Their Opti AI assistant is part of the app too, which helps you keep working on your game outside the bay. I also appreciate their Coach Match Promise, since not every coach is the right fit, and it’s nice to have that flexibility.

The downsides are that pricing changes depending on the location, and their hours can be inconsistent, which can make scheduling lessons difficult.

Pros

  • 2 locations in Edmonton
  • Certified PGA of Canada coaches
  • Optimotion swing analysis with detailed data points
  • Opti AI assistant and mobile app for progress tracking
  • Coach Match Promise for easy coach changes
  • Seasonal lesson sales with solid discounts
  • Year-round indoor practice bays

Cons

  • Pricing varies between locations
  • Inconsistent operating hours

The initial feedback provided immediate signs of improved swing

“Very positive experience. I had the swing analysis session with Nicholas C. Very clean, welcoming and professional environment upon entry to the facility. The initial feedback provided immediate signs of improved swing.”

I am now able to hit greens in regulation

“I recently had a swing evaluation and lessons with Nicholas Cuciz, an instructor at Golftec Edmonton West Point. With the changes Nick made to my swing, I am now able to hit greens in regulation. He changed my slice into a nice draw for better distance and accuracy. The best thing about Golftec is that the lessons are recorded. When you feel yourself reverting back to your old habits you can go over your lessons and drills again to get yourself back on track. I highly recommend Golftec Edmonton West Point and Nick to any golfer wanting to improve their game. The knowledge and understanding of the game you learn from Nick is amazing. He helps you make sense of golf. Many thanks Nick. You are my HERO!!!”

Ted Dancin’s Indoor Golf is one of those places that makes sense for Edmonton. Winters here can drag on, and if you want to keep your swing alive, this spot gives you that option.

It’s all indoors, so you’re playing on simulators rather than grass, but the tech is solid. They use GSPro software along with BALL OPTIX and CLUB OPTIX, which means you get detailed feedback on your swing and ball flight.

The coaching is handled by PGA of Canada pros. Cody Hancock is the head teaching pro, though his lessons are on the expensive side at $130 an hour. Colton Girard offers more affordable packages, especially for juniors, which makes it easier for families.

Speaking of families, kids under 14 can rent clubs for free with their booking!

It’s not the same as being outdoors, but for practice and lessons, it does the job.

Pros

  • Year-round golf option in Edmonton
  • PGA of Canada professionals available for lessons
  • GSPro software with BALL OPTIX and CLUB OPTIX tracking
  • Detailed swing and ball flight feedback
  • Club rentals for all ages and sizes
  • Kids 14 and under rent clubs free with booking

Cons

  • Indoor virtual golf only
  • Lesson fees with head coach are above-average

Will definitely be coming back to Ted’s

Another spot I recommend for learning golf while winter rolls in Edmonton is Tee Time Golf. It’s an indoor virtual golf facility that lets you keep swinging even when the courses outside are frozen.

The setup feels realistic thanks to Kakao VX technology, and their use of the Kakao Smart App makes practice easier since it helps track progress and analyze swings.

I found the skill games and scenario practice especially useful because they keep sessions challenging and engaging rather than repetitive.

Their coaches are also worth mentioning. Bruce MacArthur has years of experience and a patient style that works well for different skill levels. Grant Cammidge is another seasoned coach and stands out for winning 30 professional tournaments throughout his career.

That said, some may find it a hassle that you need to email the coaches directly to book lessons or ask about rates.

Pros

  • Year-round golf option in Edmonton
  • Realistic simulation with Kakao VX technology
  • Kakao Smart App for tracking progress and swing analysis
  • Can run simulations for engaging skill games and scenario practice
  • Two highly experienced coaches

Cons

  • Indoor virtual golf only
  • Lesson bookings handled only through direct email with coaches

5. Chris East

Lessons offered: Private lessons, semi-private lessons, and junior golf lessons

Chris East is one of the more established golf coaches in Edmonton, and his track record shows it. He’s a four-time Golf Club Champion, and since 2009, he has held Level II Associate Teaching Professional status with the Canadian Golf Teachers Federation.

What I appreciate most is that his lessons go beyond simple swing adjustments.

Challenge Par sessions give you the chance to play holes with him while learning strategy in real time, and his course management lessons focus on smarter decisions rather than just mechanics.

He also offers lesson packages that help reduce the overall cost, and his schedule is wide open mornings, afternoons, and evenings, which makes booking straightforward.

The main drawbacks are location and price. Most lessons are at The Legends Golf Driving Range on the northeast edge of the city, and single lessons cost more than average unless you commit to a package.

Pros

  • 4-time Golf Club Champion with proven experience
  • Certified Level II Associate Teaching Professional since 2009
  • Offers Challenge Par sessions and course management lessons
  • Lesson packages available for better value
  • Flexible scheduling: mornings, afternoons, and evenings

Cons

  • Main teaching location is on the northeast edge of the city
  • Single lesson rates are slightly higher than average

I took a set of lessons from Chris and my game improved quickly

“I took a set of lessons from Chris and my game improved quickly. Chris provided some great insights that allowed me to see the game differently. He also taught many drills that I could do on my own in the future. Overall a great experience.”

-Mike Baker, Google Reviews

I honestly learned way more than I expected

“We did a few private golf lessons with Chris and I honestly learned way more than I expected. He explained the basics so clearly and helped me improve a lot, I didn’t know I could actually golf like that! And we only had three lessons. He was super patient and always encouraging, which made the experience really fun and motivating. He was also really easy to schedule with, which made things super convenient. Definitely recommend him if you’re looking to get better at golf or even if you know nothing about golfing.”
