The 5 Best Italian Restaurants in Edmonton to Get Your Pizza the Real Way

  • Ingredient Quality: We made sure the kitchen uses top-notch stuff, like local produce or organic flour in the dough, because fresh ingredients really change the taste.

  • Menu Variety: The menu should go way beyond basic spaghetti and meatballs, so we looked for cool drinks, great seafood, and options for different diets.

  • Atmosphere and Setting: We checked if the vibe works for a quick lunch or a long dinner, since a cozy space makes the meal so much better.

  • Value and Portions: Nobody likes leaving hungry or feeling ripped off, so we compared prices to portion size, with bonus points for big platters and sweet happy hour deals.

  • Group Accommodations: Eating out is usually more fun with friends, so we looked for places that can handle bigger groups with private rooms or flexible catering.

1. BIANCO

bianco

Website: biancoeats.com

Address: #120, 10020 101 A Avenue, Phipps McKinnon Bld.

Contact: 780 761 8838 | [email protected]

Hours: Monday-Thursday, 11:00 AM – 10:00 PM | Friday-Saturday, 11:00 AM – 11:00 PM | Sunday, 4:00 PM – 10:00 PM

When we grabbed a late afternoon bite at BIANCO, we were blown away by their daily bubbles program featuring 29 unique global sparkling wines by the glass. You can even enjoy a special drink and light bites every weekday afternoon.

Food-wise, they take real pride in crafting all their pasta and pizza completely in-house. They even use unbleached, organic, non-genetically modified flour for their dough.

This dedication to high-quality ingredients creates an incredibly fresh and authentic meal.

What’s more, they offer off-site catering with family-style pastas if you want to feed a crowd at your office.

Just keep in mind that they don’t serve a Sunday lunch. Their doors stay closed until 4 PM on Sundays, which limits weekend daytime plans.

You also have to cross the river to their cousin restaurant, Rosso, if you want their specific wood-fired Napolitano pizza.

Pros

  • Fresh in-house dough
  • Organic local ingredients
  • Daily global bubbles by the glass
  • Convenient office catering

Cons

  • No Sunday lunch service
  • Wood-fired pizza located off-site

The appetizers are exceptional

This is a must try Italian restaurant! The food is consistently tasty and the service is great! The appetizers are exceptional and I recommend not skipping over that section of the menu! Just be cognizant if ordering a few of the appis which I highly encourage you to do, make sure to share the meal as the pasta is large in quantity.

The food is simply some of the best Italian dishes I’ve tried

We came to Bianco for Dinner with a group of 6 and from our entrance to goodbyes, this was as perfect of a visit as I can imagine.  The staff here is beyond accommodating and helpful.  The food is simply some of the best Italian dishes I’ve tried.  From Pizza to apps to amazing pastas.. we shared it all during dinner, and all of it was amazing.  I cannot wait to go back.

Hours: Tuesday-Thursday, 5:00 PM – 9:00 PM | Saturday-Sunday, 4:30 PM – 10:00 PM

They serve up fresh house-made pasta using ingredients from an extensive list of local suppliers.

Instead of typical individual plates, they use a traditional family-style method to serve dishes in large shared bowls. This interactive approach makes dinner much more engaging for your whole table.

You can even pair your meal with something from their huge collection of wine, grappa, and cognac.

However, they only open for dinner and don’t offer any lunch service. Also, expect your meal to last a couple of hours, which is tough if you’re in a rush.

  • Large shared family platters

The Food was INCREDIBLE

If you haven’t eaten here, you are missing out on an amazing experience. What a quaint little place. The moment i stepped into the place, I was taken back to when I was a little girl with my Italian family get togethers. The Accordionist was the cherry on the top of the whole experience. The Food was INCREDIBLE. I had the Lobster Mac and Cheese. Wow!! The staff were unbelievably friendly. We interacted more like family. I will definitely come back again and again!!

Appetizers were amazing, pasta and mains were amazing

Recommended by a top chef review. Exactly what you expect from an Italian family Bistro. Appetizers were amazing, pasta and mains were amazing. I only give a four star for because the tiramisu was good but I prefer liquor soaked ladyfingers to espresso soaked.

4. Sorrentino’s Downtown

sorrentinos-downtown

Website: sorrentinos.com/downtown/

Address: 10162 – 100 Street

Contact: 780.424.7500

Hours: Tuesday-Friday, 11:30 AM – 2:00 PM, 4:30 PM – 10:00 PM | Saturday, 4:30 PM – 10:00 PM

Sorrentino’s Downtown provides custom-printed menus right at the table so you can pick your own meals without pre-ordering. They also let you use their private, tech-equipped event rooms for free as long as you meet a minimum spend.

They even arrange third-party audio-visual gear rentals for your presentations and add the cost to your bill with zero markup. You also get generous cancellation windows for large restaurant buy-outs.

Food-wise, the kitchen gladly handles strict vegan or keto diets as long as you tell the coordinator ahead of time.

Getting to the restaurant takes some effort, though, because they don’t validate parking for their downtown location. You’ll have to hunt for street parking or pay for a nearby underground lot.

They also charge a three-dollar plating fee per guest if you bring a celebratory cake.

Pros

  • No pre-ordering needed for groups
  • Free private room rentals
  • Accommodates vegan and keto diets
  • Tech-ready presentation rooms

Cons

  • No validated downtown parking
  • Extra fees for outside cake plating

It was one of the best Italian restaurants I have been to

We checked this place out with friends in April 2026. It was one of the best Italian restaurants I have been to. It was during a garlic festival so they had a special menu containing lots of garlic. We had our 6yo and 12 yo but they were very accommodating for the kids.

We were so impressed that we returned the next night

Visiting Edmonton from Australia, my Wife and I enjoyed a sensational Italian meal here.  We were so impressed that we returned the next night with two friends!

The service from our Waiter, “Serge”, was outstanding and every dish we ordered was beautifully presented and full of flavour.  Be sure to finish with the tiramisu – it is not to be missed!

Highly recommended!

I gave this Restaurant a 5 star rating

Violino Restaurant is a very charming and elegant Italian restaurant. The atmosphere is really nice, the staff is very friendly and helpful and the food is amazing. I gave this Restaurant a 5 star rating. If you have never been to Violino Restaurant, I recommend going as you will not be disappointed.

Highly recommend

This was glorious! Impeccable food and very far prices! We love Amore, another Italian restaurant, but here the prices were more affordable and food was delicious!

We had white wine mussels and fettuccine. The mussels suace was so creamy and silky, we even asked for extra bread to focus on the sauce.

And the fettuccine was flambe at our table and even the chicken was tender and succulent! Highly recommend.

Plus it was my partners birthday and we got treated to a complimentary tarimisu
