The Best Hair Salons in Edmonton That Boost My Self-Confidence
Call me cliche or old-fashioned, but I totally believe in the saying that the hair is someone’s crowning glory. My mood, self-esteem, and self-confidence—they all can be influenced by how great my hair looks on a day-by-day basis!
That’s why I always take great care of my hair. (My close friends even accuse me of being obsessive!) At least once a month, I treat myself to a shampoo and blowout, and when I’m feeling extra adventurous, I’ll book a hair treatment or a new haircut.
In all the years I’ve lived in Edmonton, I’ve tried many hair salons. So far, these are the ones that have boosted my self-confidence and made me feel like a goddess after every session.
How much does a hair salon service cost in Edmonton?
Hair salon costs in Edmonton will depend on the services you book. Usually, a haircut ranges between C$30 and C$55 (a haircut for women tends to be on the higher end of the price range), while colouring and other styling treatments are somewhere between C$70 and C$150.
For complex treatments like perm and chemical straightening, you can expect the cost to be over C$100.

Every time I visit Fresh and Co Salons, I feel like I’m in a sci-fi setting. Everything is so white and bright!
But don’t let that sterile-looking interior design fool you into thinking that the vibe here is cold and harsh. In fact, it’s the opposite; everyone is warm and friendly.
Before you have your appointment, you first have to schedule a consultation with one of the stylists, which is your opportunity to discuss all your hair goals.
From my experience, the stylists always understand what I’m trying to say, even though I struggle with describing what I want. It’s not surprising because they’ve trained with industry experts.
Once everything is settled, it’s time for the actual hair appointment. They literally have a customized hair care formula for your hair! That’s why I always feel like I’m being pampered here.
I usually get a haircut or a blowout here, but this salon has other services as well. You can get highlights, ombre balayage, perm, and chemical straightening. If your hair is in dire need of repair, hair treatments are available.
You can even buy hair products here as well!
As much as I appreciate the service here, I do have to note that booking an appointment with them can be frustrating. There’s usually a lot of waiting because they’re always booked. It’s not too much of a deal-breaker for me, but I can imagine it is for some people.

I visited Blue Gemini Hair Studio at a friend’s recommendation, and now it’s become one of my favourite hair salons. I love coming here to get my hair coloured because they have many options: solid colours, root-only colours, double processing, ombre, and more!
But their services don’t just stop at hair colouring. They also have haircuts for both women and men, style services (shampoo, blow dry, perm, updo, and bridal), hair extensions, and even hair treatments. The lineup of services is outstanding!
Once you’ve chosen the service you want, you’ll have a consultation with your stylist, and then you’ll get your hair washed, complete with a scalp massage! The massage is so relaxing that sometimes, I do fall asleep!
However, one thing I don’t like much about this hair salon is its prices. On their website, the prices seem affordable, but the thing is, they can actually change, depending on your hair.
My friend warned me about this ahead of time, so I knew what to expect, and also, the price jumps aren’t too big in my experience. Still, some people might find the lack of transparency a turn-off.

When I first visited Volume Salons, my first thought was, “Oh, wow, they offer a lot of services.” They have the typical services like haircut, styling, hair colour, hair extensions, and hair treatments, but there are also ones that I’d never heard about before. For example, I didn’t know there was such a thing called hair botox! Who would’ve known?
Aside from the impressive range of services, another thing I love about this hair salon is that they tailor the experience for you. They know that everyone’s hair is unique, so they’ll adjust the services to fit your hair type. They’ll also use certain products if you’re experiencing a specific hair issue (e.g., dry hair or brittle hair). How thoughtful!
The stylists are also amazing. Whenever I share a concern, they’re ready to offer thoughtful suggestions, and if I’m not sure about the suggestion they gave, they drop it.
The only downside I can think of about this salon is the prices. They’re definitely on the more expensive side. But they’re not too outrageous—just expensive enough that you won’t think about coming here regularly.

Blonde Brunette Hair Studio takes “get pampered like you’re royalty” to a whole new level. With its crystal chandeliers, ornate decorations, and mirrors with intricately carved frames, you’ll definitely feel like a prince or princess here!
This luxury salon is intent on providing the best experience for you. For example, their full service lasts two to three hours. Your stylist will snip off any hair imperfections, give you a phenomenal wash and scalp massage, and also add some colour to your hair. Anything you want, your stylist is here to listen and deliver!
Aside from the full service, this salon offers haircut and hair colour services. They don’t offer a lot of services, which you can consider a downside, but for me, they excel at the services they offer, so the lack of variety is justifiable.
Another disadvantage they have is that they have expensive rates. Their haircut starts at C$60, compared to the usual C$40. They’re really living up to their reputation as a luxury salon. I personally think that their prices are worth it, but your mileage may vary.

Before a friend recommended this place, I’d never heard of Timothie Hill Hair-Dressing. The exterior seems humble; looking at it won’t give you the impression that it’s a beauty salon—and a fantastic one at that.
What I—and the other loyal customers—love about this salon is the primary hairdresser, Timothie Hill himself. He has a bright personality and will listen to you attentively as you tell him about your hair issues and goals. He’ll then give you suggestions on what he can do.
He does have a slight bossy streak in the sense that once he has a suggestion, he sticks by it. It sounds bad when I put it that way, but it’s actually a good thing. It proves that he’s knowledgeable and skilled in his craft; I’ve followed his suggestions every time, and he’s yet to disappoint me.
He also offers a good array of services. Haircuts are the usual, but you can also get highlights, perm, blow-dry and styling, and even permanent colour. No matter what service you choose, he’ll provide you with a hair care plan so that you can keep your hair as glossy and healthy as possible before your next salon appointment.
Unfortunately, just like Blonde Brunette Hair Studio, the pricing at Timothie Hill Hair-Dressing is pretty steep; haircuts start at C$85. Loyal customers swear that it’s worth it, which I agree with, but I won’t blame newcomers for balking at the prices.
On the bright side, you can score a 20% discount if you successfully recommend this shop to a friend. That’s something.
