The Best Massages in Edmonton: The Highlight at the End of My Work Week!

  • Licenses and Experiences. We make sure that every wellness clinic we recommend has licensed massage therapists on its staff. These massage therapists should’ve received training from a trusted institution, like the Alberta College of Massage Therapy. Ideally, they should also have years of experience under their belt, but we’re not super strict about this. Sometimes, a relatively new massage therapist can still provide an amazing service.
  • Array of Services. There are many types of massages, each having its own benefits, so it will be lovely if a clinic can provide that variety. The clinic gets bonus points if it also offers other treatments, such as laser hair removal and the like.
  • Atmosphere and Cleanliness. Personally, I’ve found that a clinic’s atmosphere says a lot about what kind of service a customer might get. If it’s clean and well-maintained, it shows that the staff cares. It also helps that a clean clinic helps set the mood, making it easy to calm down and relax.
  • Pricing. Any clinic that offers amazing massage within the C$50–100 price range is already a winner in our eyes. We’re not opposed to the idea of a clinic offering massages at C$100+ rates, but they have to earn it somehow. Maybe this clinic has special perks included in the treatment, or they use the most modern equipment. In other words, there has to be something that warrants the high price.

With the way the muscles ache or my joints creak after I do even the mildest of movements, you’d think I’m someone in their early 50s. But nope, I’m actually just in my late 20s; it’s the hectic lifestyle I have that has made me this way.

That’s why I’ve now started treating myself to a massage at the end of the work week. Having my tense muscles massaged like it’s a piece of dough for an hour is just marvellous!

If you’re feeling tense and sore, then maybe a massage is all you need to feel better. Here are some of the places that offer the best massages in Edmonton. Check them out!

How much does a massage cost in Edmonton?

Usually, a one-hour massage treatment in Edmonton costs between C$50 and C$100. Some clinics rate higher, especially if their treatments go beyond one hour or they’re well-established in the industry.

Soul2Sole Massage and Wellness Clinic is one of the most popular wellness clinics in Edmonton, with several locations within the city. My go-to spot is the one at Millwood because it has the best vibe and the best staff, in my opinion.

The clinic evokes a sense of tranquillity the moment I step in. It smells nice, like a field of fragrant flowers!

The lineup of massage services is pretty good, too. I love getting a deep-tissue massage because the firm pressure and slow strokes truly loosen my muscles and make me feel rejuvenated afterward.

But they also offer craniosacral therapy, Thai massage, hot stone massage, reflexology massage, prenatal massage, and more. They even have physiotherapy and acupuncture!

I also love the massage therapists here. Not only are they warm and friendly, but they’re also attentive. They take the time to listen to my needs, and during the treatment, they pay attention to the area(s) on my body that have been bothering me for a long time. If I do feel a sudden, intense pain, they’re quick to stop and ask me if I’m okay.

This clinic also provides direct billing through TELUS Health. So, you can file a claim to your health insurance provider, which is convenient.

However, one annoying thing I can say about this clinic is that while the massage therapists are lovely, I can’t say the same thing about the people at the front desk. I’ve encountered a front desk staff member who doesn’t know how to submit claims, and it soured my good mood.

Pros

  • Tranquil and fragrant environment
  • An impressive lineup of services
  • Warm and attentive massage therapists
  • Direct billing to insurance companies available

Cons

  • Some not-so-friendly front desk staff

Skilled and intuitive professional

I had an incredible experience with Ms.Nitaya (Jennie)! From the moment I walked in, I felt completely at ease. Their professionalism, skill, and intuitive approach made for one of the best massages I’ve ever had. They took the time to understand my needs and focused on the areas that needed the most attention. I left feeling relaxed, rejuvenated, and pain-free. The atmosphere was calming, and every detail was thoughtfully considered to enhance the experience. I highly recommend Ms.Nitaya (Jannie) to anyone looking for a top-notch massage. I’ll definitely be returning!

Therapeutic Body Concepts Massage is another popular wellness clinic, with several locations in Edmonton and neighbouring areas. I really like the one at High Park, so I always go there, even if it’s far from where I live and work.

The vibe here is more on the dark and moody side, and though that’s not what I would prefer, I do like how it makes me feel at peace—sleepy even!

Browsing their list of services might be a bit overwhelming. Deep-tissue massage, myofascial release, reflexology treatment, hot stone massage, and Thai massage are the most popular, but they also offer other treatments like acupuncture and cupping therapy.

They even have couples massages available here, perfect if you want to relax with your partner!

Another thing I love about this wellness clinic is that there are actually snacks and drinks available here. If I’m coming alone, I like to get guacamole and pretzel chips, but if I’m with a friend or two, we treat ourselves to a cheese plate. You can even get a glass of wine (red, white, or bubbly) if you’re feeling extra fancy!

As for the pricing, I’d say it’s on the expensive side, generally speaking, but you have many options. For example, if you want something slightly cheaper, you can get a 30-minute massage instead of the usual hour. Conversely, you can also get the luxury treatment if you don’t mind splurging just to get the best experience.

Pros

  • Dark and moody vibes
  • Many services available, including couples massage
  • Offers snacks and drinks

Cons

  • Expensive

Highly skilled and attentive

I had an amazing experience with Alexa as my therapist. She is highly skilled, attentive, and truly understands how to relieve tension and stress. Her technique was both relaxing and effective, leaving me feeling refreshed and rejuvenated. She took the time to listen to my concerns and tailored the massage to my specific needs. The atmosphere was calming, and she made sure I was comfortable throughout the session. I highly recommend Alexa to anyone looking for a professional and therapeutic massage experience!

Calming and quiet atmosphere

Went for my first massage at Therapeutic Body Concepts and the whole experience was great. The atmosphere is very calming and quiet, the lady at the front desk was friendly and welcoming. I had an appointment booked with Mary and she was amazing. Very friendly and answered any/all questions i had, and was checking in on me throughout the massage. Highly recommend this place!

Integrated Therapies Massage and Wellness is the first wellness clinic I ever visited (this was way before I started getting massages regularly), and I’m still coming here years later.

The main reason I love coming here is the staff; everyone is nice and friendly. They greet you upon arrival, and before you start your session, you can let them know all the issues you’re experiencing, and they’ll adjust the massage treatment as they see fit. You can even tell them that you want your session to be quiet so that you can sleep.

I also love that they offer many types of services here. If you feel overwhelmed, you can start with a general massage because it’s the safest option, but over time, you might be interested in trying deep-tissue massage, lymphatic drainage massage, reflexology treatment, and craniosacral therapy.

There are even services that I don’t find in other clinics, such as the Graston Technique. I believe this one treats soft-tissue injuries, so it’s best-suited for physically active people or those who have minor injuries.

The prices here are not cheap; most of them are around the C$100 and above range.

If you book a 45-minute treatment, the rate lowers somewhat. Additionally, if you purchase a package of five treatments together, you can receive a 10% discount, which is sweet.

Oh, and direct billing is available here, too! You can save even more money if your insurance company accepts your claim when you book a treatment here.

The one major downside of this clinic, though, is that they don’t accept walk-ins; you have to book an appointment first. Fortunately, you can book the appointment on the day of, but it’s still a bit inconvenient.

Pros

  • Warm and friendly staff
  • A great array of services
  • Package discounts available
  • Direct billing

Cons

  • Expensive
  • Doesn’t accept walk-ins

Relaxing atmosphere and professional massage therapists

Been going here for around 3 to 4 years, and rotated through most of the massage therapists. It is quite nice and relaxed and the massages are good and professional. I will warn that they do have quite squeaky floors which can be distracting depending on who you are.

Accommodating staff

This place never disappoints. Had a wonderfu, much-needed massage that I booked the same day.  Thank you so much for being able to accommodate me but more so for listening to my needs and going above and beyond my expectations once again. I highly recommend anyone looking for a massage to visit.  Terri was wonderful.

If you’re a sports person, then Athlete’s Choice Massage is the best wellness clinic for you. The massage therapists here cater to athletes, so they’re pretty skilled at providing sports massage.

This type of treatment is pretty thorough as well; you’ll begin with an in-depth assessment, including orthopedic testing, before the massage therapist determines which technique best fits your needs.

But sports massage isn’t the only service available here. You can also book a therapeutic general massage, myofascial cupping, prenatal massage, foot massage, craniosacral therapy, lymphatic drainage massage, and more.

I’ve also seen a few cool treatments that most of their competitors don’t offer, such as shockwave therapy and kinesiology.

The prices here are relatively okay; most fall within the C$50–C$100 range. There are more expensive options, but they’re usually for treatments that last longer than an hour. Also, students get a discount!

This clinic offers event massages as well. This sounds like the perfect idea for a birthday celebration or a team-building session with your co-workers.

If I have to pick one thing to complain about this clinic, it’s the fact that you have to pay via credit card. I understand why they’ve gone with this policy, but I can imagine that it’s frustrating for people who don’t have one.

Pros

  • Specializes in sports massage
  • Other types of services available
  • Student discount
  • Event massage available

Cons

  • Only accepts credit cards for payment

Clean and well-maintained facility, professional staff

I had an excellent massage with Bastien. I was looking for strong hands, and he delivered—with both hands and elbows. My back feels significantly better, no longer tense and rigid. The facility is clean and well-maintained, the staff professional, and the direct billing made the process seamless. Highly recommended.”

Professional and friendly staff

You absolutely need to go here! I see Jamie M for my prenatal massages and honestly my pregnancy has been going so much better since seeing her. I have been dealing with bad back pain and she honestly has made a massive difference in how I’m feeling. She is professional and friendly and I highly recommend her!

Healing Oasis Massage and Wellness really sticks to its name: this place does feel and look like a serene oasis!

The array of massage services is incredible here; they have the classic therapeutic massage, as well as other massage treatments with fancy names like hot stone massage, deep-tissue massage, craniosacral therapy, reflexology, and more.

If you want to pamper yourself even more, you might want to book a laser skin treatment!

Of course, I have to give a shoutout to the massage therapists here as well. They have that magic touch that will loosen your knots.

They’re also really great at addressing pain points. I asked around, and I discovered that many of their past clients came here because of hip and knee pain and pain from vehicle accident injuries. They shared the same sentiments as I.

If you have insurance, you’ll be delighted to know that direct billing is available here. This saves you time and energy because you won’t have to do a lot of paperwork anymore; not to mention, you’ll also save some money!

Just keep in mind that this clinic is pretty strict when it comes to cancellations. You have to cancel at least 24 hours before your scheduled date. If you don’t, you’ll have to pay quite a hefty fee.

Pros

  • Serene environment
  • Wide array of services, including laser skin treatment
  • Skilled massage therapists
  • Direct billing available

Cons

  • Strict when it comes to cancellations

Excellent technique

I’ve tried several different massage places in Edmonton before but never found one that really suited me. I’m so glad to have found Armie for deep tissue massage. Her technique is excellent, with just the right amount of pressure and depth that I need. She also focuses on addressing my specific pain points according to my needs. She’s very experienced—highly recommended!

Smooth process

I had an amazing experience with Jacq during my laser hair removal sessions! She is very professional and made sure I felt comfortable throughout the entire process. Although I’m not done with my sessions yet, I’m already seeing great results, and I couldn’t be happier with the service! Also, a big thank you to the front desk lady for being so welcoming and helpful. She made the check-in process smooth and was incredibly kind. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for great results and exceptional service!
